Got Questions?

Here are a number of frequently-asked questions that we get:

How much personal time will it take?

In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, we have some coaching days, usually a Saturday.  We participate in a SA regional competition in March or April each year, and may have a weekend retreat to focus on preparing for competition. We tend to perform in and around our area about six times per year for local festivals, business events, charitable events, as well as participating in Christmas and arts festival events.   There are also numerous opportunities to participate in regional educational events such as Music Camp, Fall Fest and CU.  The time to devote to the regional events is up to the individual.

What is the audition procedure?

We strive to make the audition as comfortable as we can possibly make it!  Learning recordings are provided along with sheet music and one on one help from members of the chorus and our Director and Assistant Director.  You don't audition until you are ready, you can take as many weeks as you like - there is no pressure with us!  The audition is a quartet of the auditioning voice (you), the harmony parts and a back up by an experienced member in the same part as the auditioning voice, ready to jump in if support is looked for.

Do I have to be a great singer?

Absolutely not!  Harmony singing is not about a great solo voice, it is all about blend and balance.  We have a part for every voice from low to high, thin to full.  A wonderful aspect of our chorus is the educational opportunities that are available to improve one's voice and expand one's knowledge of singing and harmony.

How do I learn the songs?

We provide sheet music, learning recordings, personal coaching and members who are more than willing to meet outside of chorus rehearsal to review music.
